Complete a Business Entity Search in CIS to view the current status of your business. A business can be either Active, Pending Active, Pending Inactive, or Inactive.

Is your business Pending Inactive? The Reason for Status will let you know what actions you can take to avoid termination or cancellation.   

Is your business Inactive? The Reason for Status will let you know if you can reinstate. 

A member is an owner in the LLC whereas a manager is an individual, group or entity chosen by the LLC members to manage the day-to-day operations. The SCC does not keep a record of members or managers. Contact the LLC for a list of their members and managers .
 

Start with an internet search using the term “registered agent Virginia”. Search results will include attorneys, law firms, individuals and businesses who are willing to act as your registered agent. You may also contact VA State Bar Lawyer Referral Service at (804) 775-0808.

To obtain information for the name and address of a resident agent appointed by a nonresident property owner, contact the Clerk’s Office at (804) 371-9733 or toll-free at 1-888-722-2551.

The Clerk’s Information System (CIS) is an online tool that allows the public to search for key business information and helps businesses to more quickly and easily make payments and submit most filings required under Virginia law.

Check to make sure you have included the business type in the name (e.g. Acme, LLC.). Next, enter a name that is distinct. If another business already has a name you want to use, you’ll need to find another name. Each business must have a distinct name.

Consumer Finance Companies Licensed in Virginia
