The SCC and You
Since the SCC's inception, citizens have had the right to appear to express opposition or support for issues before the Commission. The SCC regularly holds hearings in its Richmond headquarters and, when warranted, schedules out-of-town hearings for cases which impact specific areas of the state. The Commissioners encourage broad participation in SCC cases to ensure that everyone's concerns are considered. The SCC makes audio of many of its Richmond hearings available for listening on the Commission website.
Although SCC cases and investigations are conducted under strict rules of administrative procedure and may seem very formal, citizens should not be discouraged from participating in an SCC case. Anyone is welcome to attend Commission hearings and is encouraged to testify.
